About

Lillian Cunningham is creator and host of The Washington Post’s original hit podcast, “Presidential.” Through in-depth reporting and interviews with the country’s best historians, Lillian takes listeners on a revealing journey through the life and legacy of each American president. “Presidential” was a Webby Award honoree for best podcast documentary and a finalist for the Academy of Podcasters’ best news and politics podcast.

After “Presidential,” Lillian went on to create several of The Post’s other most ambitious and successful narrative podcasts, each examining different aspects of American democracy. “Constitutional” traces the evolution of rights in the United States. “Moonrise” upends the classic story told about the space race. And her newest podcast, “Field Trip,” takes her deep inside the national parks to report on how forces like climate change and industrial development are shaping the fate of America’s public lands.

“Field Trip” is a 2024 duPont-Columbia award finalist, one of the most prestigious awards in broadcast journalism.

Lillian was previously the editor of The Post’s “On Leadership” section. She received two Emmy awards for her interview series with leaders across politics, business and the arts.

She is a graduate of the University of Chicago and the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
